Ferrari Challenge UK: Vangala wins race 2 at Circuito de Navarra

27 April 2025

Pranav Vangala claimed his first victory of the Ferrari Challenge UK season during the series’ second race of the weekend at Circuito de Navarra this weekend (Sunday).

Vangala initially made a strong start from the outside of the front row, drawing level alongside Saturday victor Gilbert Yates. Reigning Trofeo Pirelli champion Yates held on initially however, slotting into the lead ahead of Vangala as the pack streamed through the opening corners for the first time.

From there, Yates set about building a lead and seemed to have matters under control as the race built towards its final minutes. However, as the race wore on Vangala was able to edge back closer before Yates ran wide, opening the door for Vangala to make a move.

Despite seeming to struggle a little more with his car’s handling during the final moments, Yates valiantly attempted to keep up the pace and remain on Vangala’s tail. Yates wasn’t able to re-pass however, settling for second in his Charles Hurst machine whilst Vangala’s HR Owen entry drove to victory further up the road.

The podium was completed by Calum Leathem, in another Charles Hurst entry, who eventually crossed the line just over 20 seconds behind Vangala up the road.

Behind that, Mike Dewhurst claimed fourth overall as the leading Coppa Shell entry. Dewhurst claimed class honours following a spirited fight with Paul Simmerson who ceded the place before dropping further back with a brief spin.

John Marcar was fifth, just ahead of Fedor Samorukov with Peter Huner seventh. Then came Simmerson with Bal Sidhu and Steven Dopson completing the top-10.
