Gilbert Yates claimed outright pole position for the second race in as many days ahead of the second Ferrari Challenge UK race of the weekend at Circuito de Navarra today (Sunday).
Yates topped the 20-minute qualifying session for Coppa Pirelli graded Ferrari drivers at the wheel of his 296 Challenge with a time of 1m44.670s. This best effort from the Charles Hurst entered driver came in the second half of the session and was enough to secure the top spot by less than three tenths of a second.
Yates will once again be joined on the front row of the grid by Pranav Vangala who also qualified second yesterday. Behind them, Calum Leathem in third and Oscar Ryndziewicz in fourth wound up in the same positions as Saturday as well, creating a full repeat of the top-four.
Joseph Dean was fifth quickest this time around, guaranteeing an improved slot on the grid after not setting a time during the weekend’s opening qualifying period. John Marcar, Fedor Samorukov and Bal Sidhu completed the Pirelli class runners.
In the Coppa Shell session, Mike Dewhurst swooped in with the fastest time, edging out Saturday’s fastest competitor Paul Simmerson. Peter Hunter, Steven Dopson and Paul Dixon completed the top-five.
