Circuito de Navarra was pleased to host a very special guest yesterday (2 April) when Zak Brown, current CEO of the McLaren Racing Formula 1 team, took to the MSV-owned track in northern Spain for a special test at the wheel of notable historic race cars from his personal collection. The team hailed its visit to the circuit as “a pretty epic Wednesday.”
Zak lapped the recently extended, improved Circuito de Navarra layout in three cars, including two Williams F1 machines and a Jaguar Group C sports car. The vehicles were run and prepared by the United Autosports race team co-founded by Brown and former racing driver Richard Dean.
Brown enjoyed seat time in a1987 Jaguar XJR-9 sports-prototype endurance racer in addition to a 1980 Williams FW07B Grand Prix car, as raced to that year’s F1 World Championship by Alan Jones. This comes following recent confirmation that he would race both during the the Masters Historic Racing event at Paul Ricard later this month.
Additionally, he spent time at the wheel of his Williams FW11B, as raced during the 1987 F1 season by Nigel Mansell, during which he claimed six victories, including at his home British Grand Prix.
